What annually makes the NBA Playoffs exciting is that unlike the regular season, where hot and cold streaks tend to even out, success in the post season necessitates being able to turn it on at the right moment.
NBA history is filled with examples of teams with great regular season records who were unable to complete the season with a championship. The reasons for post season failures by excellent teams can range from a key injury to a poorly timed cold shooting streak by a top player or an equally poorly timed hot shooting streak by the opposition.
In my opinion, monumental playoff upsets aren’t just about teams with better records losing to teams with fewer regular season wins.
