One of the most anticipated Game 7's in recent memory ended like that?
In a complete thrashing, the Penguins defeated the Capitals 6-2 to move on to the Eastern Conference Finals. Pittsburgh came storming out of the gates, scoring five times before Alex Ovechkin got the Capitals on the scoreboard near the end of the second period.
Washington clearly did not live up to the hype in this huge matchup.
Ever since the Capitals scored in overtime in Game 6, Game 7 had been building in anticipation as an epic battle between the two teams. In the other six games, only one (Game 4) had been decided by more than one goal.
