Jason Kendall Joins 2000 Hit Club

Jason Kendall picked up his 2000th hit when he singled to right center in the second inning of the Brewers 8-4 win over the Cardinals. He became the 255th player to join the 2000 hit club.
Kendall said after the game that he appreciates more than ever the guys who have 3000 hits. The 3000 hit club is more exclusive with only 27 members.
The only players with 3000 hits not in the Hall of Fame are Pete Rose with 4,256 hits, Craig Biggio with 3,060, and Rafael Palmeiro with 3,020.
While Kendall was getting his 2000th hit in St. Louis, Todd Helton, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, almost had his 2000th hit in Atlanta but it was called an error.
