The Kansas City Royals are perennial cream puffs. They’re also, suddenly, potential contenders. Back in March, most bookmakers had the Royals pegged as prohibitive long shots in the AL Central—which goes to show that real life can’t always be counted on to unfold by the numbers.
Regularity means the best man usually wins.
Randomness, on the other hand, means even the losers get lucky sometimes.
