The old adage says you can never have too much pitching, but most teams don't have enough. Fifth starters are just disposable rotation fillers on most teams, which makes the Red Sox' current conundrum so odd: They've got too many good starters. What to do?
Here's a piece that proposes the Sox think outside the box and move to a six-man rotation. It sounds crazy at first, but the writer's got a good idea for how to make it work. Clay Buchholz thinks this idea is so good that it's worth swiping a laptop to read about it.
