Being a catcher is one of the most unappreciated jobs on the diamond. When I was a kid, stereotypical catchers were short, squat, and not a real good hitter. If you could get one to bat .260 it was a good thing.
This, my second in this series, is the best 10 catchers in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. As usual, some will think their “favorite†guy should be on top. These guys are all very good, if not great.
Some were better than others, obviously.
Please be aware that I have not included greats from the Negro League because there is a lack of credible, if any, statistics to use. In all probability Josh Gibson would be at or near the top of the list. Since his feats cannot be verified I have decided to not include...
