The Memphis Grizzlies got lucky and landed the second overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft after the draft lottery, which was held Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers won the top pick and is expected to select Oklahoma power forward Blake Griffin. Based on their 2008-09 record, Memphis was slated to pick sixth overall.
Now that the lottery position is determined, we can talk about who the team will pick. The team needs a power forward, but Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio will be tough to overlook.
