Favre asked to be released by the New York Jets, which allows him to sign with any team at all, including a team within the NFC North conference, which was prohibited in his contract with the Jets. The Minnesota Vikings are in desperate need of a quarterback, and many sports analysts believe that if they could get one, they would be destined to win it all.
