Generally, I'm pretty jaded when it comes to expecting the rich and famous to serve any jail time when they run afoul of the law. But it seems that Mayor Bloomberg is hellbent on nailing Burress' balls to the wall.
When you look at some of the other indiscretions committed by NFL players, I really think Burress' mistake was pretty mild. Sure, you don't want athletes walking around with loaded weapons. But it wasn't like he was pointing it at someone or brandishing it wildly. He had it in his pants and it went off.
